If the internet is to get information, why pay extra for the most expensive laptop?

Depends what you need or want the computer for, and that might be much more than e-posts, Similar Worlds and railway time-tables.

I use a desktop PC: I can't use lap-tops, and do need a fair-sized screen and proper keyboard and mouse for some purposes.

I don’t because I don’t need the best. But I don’t do gaming. I bought a used one from Work fine for me
