What if you keep your laptop plugged in charging all the time does it do anything?

It keeps it charged. There is no risk of "overcharging" but long term battery life can be reduced. Probably best to keep between 20% and 85%. There are power management settings that can limit the max. charge. Google "laptop battery charging limit."

I found out the hard way with this: with time, leaving it plugged in with the battery, will kill the battery.

If you need it to be plugged in all the time, you can take the battery out of it, for example my laptop has an external battery that I can remove from the underside of it.

I had a laptop that the battery stopped working, found out that leaving it plugged in 24/7 killed it.
I suspect it reduces battery life.

FIRE RISKS:

1.Never leave a laptop charging or plugged in while you're gone.

2.Do not overcharge batteries.

Laptops have a bad habit for catching fire while charging, and burning your home to the ground.
My friend lost his house that way.
It keeps it charged.
