There was a post and in it I replied talking about class action lawsuits

Sorry I can't find the post or reply, but I saw this on my Google feed and wanted to post it because it's exactly what I was talking about in my reply on the other post.

Google will pay millions of U.S. consumers a combined $700 million as part of a settlement with state attorneys general over fees the tech giant charges for use of its app store.

The company will shell out $630 million to a fund that will go directly to more than 100 million consumers nationwide, according to details of a settlement that was made public late Monday. An additional $70 million will be paid into a fund for states to disburse to consumers for similar claims.

So basically take $770 million and divide by millions. So people getting a reimbursement might only get $1 to $2. If it was 10 people getting money from a $770 million dollar fund, each person would get a ton of money.

It was the same way with the Equifax class action lawsuit. There was a fund set up to pay out to people. But the amount you got back was low because so many people made a claim.
