Mansplaining

What does this mean? Google says a man explaining something to a woman in a condescending way. So what if its a woman explaining something in a condescending way? Do we say womansplaining? Why is it just for men? Just curious

There are relatively few cultures that are not patriarchal (men, considered the heads of households or industries, running the government, etc.) Even now. So the term comes from guys assuming a woman couldn’t know what she’s talking about, and feeling they have to explain everything in minute detail. If you’re not well versed on automobiles or sports, for example, imagine that scenario regarding everything else. Here I occasionally see it when a woman is discussing menstruation or childbirth and guys jump in to explain to her what’s actually happening.

@bijouxbroussard yeah in that regard i can see the point. Makes sense. I have been experiencing a couple women recently who have been very patronising and condescending when talking about pregnancy and motherhood. Im 9 months pregnant and im finding it really annoying so i was wondering if there was a term for that but maybe labels and terms arent really appropriate. Just feels winded to have to explain so much in an attitude when trying to explain it to someone
