I'm much older than google and the internet, and even the PC. My first computer was from a "solder it yourself" kit with a 4K memory board.

In the 70s, I worked for an electronics retailer and saw the sales ticket for the first betamax recorder and playback machines. Together they were over $11K. At a garage sale today, they would probably go for less than $5 each. In the earlier 70s, even a hand-held calculator would have cost $50.
