If you seen my first post regarding Linux Mint
Read the *** section toward the end, if you just want the quick, why I don't use Windows anymore.
For anyone who isn't familiar, I'd like to share my recent experience, not so much for gaming in Linux, but just basic, everyday things that YOU can do the same on Linux Mint as you can with Windows.
So as I mentioned in my previous post, if all you do is watch YouTube or AOL or whatever, and you write up a few wordpad documents, then Linux Mint could very well be an operating system that will work for you!!! And best thing, Linux is FREE!!
I have been using Linux Mint as my only and primary operating system since about 2 weeks before Windows 10 support ended. I know some people will either dual boot OR will run Windows and then have a virtual machine with Linux. I only have Linux Mint installed as my OS, nothing else.
But I want to kind of go into what Linux Mint is. So if you are using Windows (I'm unfamiliar with MacOSX) Linux Mint is an operating system for beginners to Linux. It looks and feels very much like Windows. There is a ton of customization you can do with Linux, and as such, my desktop looks like a Windows desktop!! SO, while I have a different operating system, I still have that sense of familiarity, as that's what I've been used to seeing these last 20+ years with Windows.
I want to say one thing, I was extremely skeptical about Linux. From what I knew, no games worked on Linux. Or if they did work, you had to pull teeth to get any games working. Fast forward there are programs out there for Linux, that allow games to run. So far, all of the games I've tried to run, have worked for me. I have had to do some extra work to get those games running, but at the end of the day if the game works, then it's all the same to me.
***I'm tired of microsoft. They care not for their customers, but for their shareholders, and I for one will not back a corporation that literally gives us the middle finger, because that's what they are doing. Just wait until Windows 12 requires a monthly subscription. Yes, I have heard that this will be a thing. You'll get basic features, then if you want more features, well, you gotta pay MORE on top of the operating system you paid for.***
When I can afford a new computer, my next OS will be Linux Nobara as that is tailored more toward gaming, and that is what I do a lot of on my desktop computer. In the meantime, I'm learning all new things and it's been nothing but a positive experience for me!!
