is this usual when backing up media to an external hard drive

i'm backing up one of my main media folders at the moment, a folder containing all picture files- jpgs, PNGs etc, which contains ; 120, 402 pictures or files, i'm copying the contents of that folder to a folder on my ext drive....but so far, the process has taken about 8 hours.... with still 2hrs left remaining?

@djjohnson just an average usb cable which came with the drive.

@durinsBane1983 the old usb (usb-A) is fairly slow if any of you images are 4k quality. Which most modern phones and cameras do. USB-C is the more current USB option and should be fairly quick. What’s the total size of the folder?

@durinsBane1983 it can be very normal. Cable, drive type, file size, port type are the biggest factors.
