if you think you might have lost some media files, what can be done

on my windows desktop computer, my main media folder, containing about 30,000 picture files, i think i could of lost some picture files from it, i might not of, i'm hoping not, but i was searching that media folder last night for some pictures i thought i'd copied over weeks back, and it came back with ' no results found'?

so i felt a bit worried, and wondered what i could do? - whenever i transferred picture files to the folder, i've always ' copied then pasted' to the folder, never ' cut & paste' or ' move over ' just ' copy and paste '.......so i don't know what could have happened?

i've always backed up every picture file ive copied to this folder on my computer, to my external hard drive as well, so should i search for this picture file i think is missing on my external drive?

and what other way could i find these lost picture files? and how could i have lost them, if i did?

Did you look in your Recycle Bin ?
If you have them backed up on your external disc copy them back onto the computer.

@BridgeOvertroubledWaters they're not in the recycle bin, it's a mystery really, i might not have lost any files, it's just i thought i had copied certain files to this folder weeks back and when i searched for them last night, it said ' no results found', i was thinking because there's so many files, 30,000 or more in the folder, it might have struggled to find or locate those specific files, but not sure.
