how to have patience with computers in the times they don't respond

i love my desktop computer and would be lost without it, but i get times when it freezes and doesn't respond, and i'm manically pressing all the keys on the keyboard angrily, and smashing the mouse angrily, but it's just frozen and not responding to anything i'm wanting to do?.....saying that, at present i have 1917 tabs open in google chrome, so i think that could have something to do with it.......but still i get so angry with my computer and my patience goes....it's a high powered computer too............i feel the urge to sometimes give it a hard 'kick'...........but if i did that my computer would crash and wouldn't respond at all and i'd lose everything on my computer.
