Samsung Odyssey G4 or ASUS TUF V24?

Former has 240hz refresh rate, FreeSync Premium but falsely advertised as having GSync, 25 inches wide, stand can be rotated and adjusted in height (not just tilting), has a fake 21:9 aspect ratio (just adds black bars and zooms out), 400 nits brightness, standard 1 year warranty, and comes with a huge price tag of 300 dollars. Latter has 180hz refresh rate, FreeSync but no indication of GSync, 23.8 inches wide, comes with 3 year warranty, significantly cheaper at 150 dollars, 250 nits brightness, but the stand can only be tilted. Otherwise, both are the same with FHD, LCD IPS, sRGB, GTG 1ms, HDR (not HDR10+), 1000:1 contrast ratio, HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.2 ports along with 3.5mm, crappy monitor speakers, 16:9 flat screen (so not curved), thin bezels, anti-flickering, eye care, and that shadow boost thingie.

Samsung Odyssey.
Can't go wrong with them.
I've used them.
Awesome monitors.
@basilfawlty89 is it worth the heavy price tag for a FHD monitor though? I'm fine with 180hz and inferior stand of the TUF V24, but I've read the Amazon reviews and even moderate reception has claims that ASUS has questionable QC. i know that Samsung is among the best for displays, but if i go by my experience with their phones (S4 and A34) I'm skeptical if their monitors are good.

only dealbreaker for me with TUF V24 is the low brightness, as 250 is barely better than my laptop display of 200 nits, so Odyssey G4 having 400 is great even if it's less than 1000 nits of my phone. there were moderate reviews on Amazon claiming that the Odyssey G4 has dead pixels or other serious defects after awhile, but they praised Samsung for having good customer service.

@uikakarotuevegeta their monitors are damn good. But you make a valid point with FHD regarding price.

Have you considered 1440p?
@basilfawlty89 yeah i have but 27 inches is too big for me, and my gaming laptop only has HDMI 2.0 port, so at QHD i can't go above 144hz. Buying any QHD monitor beyond that is wasted and sadly the USB-C port doesn't have enough bandwith for transferring video data. if you're wondering why i don't just build a desktop, yes I got the money but I'd rather wait until I'm in a better financial situation and have my own place. I'm still living with my parents because the pandemic delayed my progress in life; I graduated in mid 2023 when I was supposed to in mid 2020.

@uikakarotuevegeta I reckon wait then with a more fancy monitor for when you upgrade. Go for the less expensive monitor.
@basilfawlty89 idk people complain it starts having issues in a few months to a year, and ASUS doesn't really help

It's actually sad that my gaming laptop that's 5.5 years old has a monitor with barely any issues, yet it's quite low spec (FHD 60hz LCD IPS 20ms SDR). meanwhile these desktop monitors that's designed for gaming (144hz+ HDR <5ms FreeSync) can't even last 1 year before they mess up

@uikakarotuevegeta I've had good luck so far with two brands - Samsung and Dell. And they offer decent warranties.
Never used an Asis monitor.
Acer and AOC are also worth a look.
@basilfawlty89 Acer products are generally garbage, and when I checked them out on Amazon they had warnings that the monitors were frequently returned

AoC sadly has gotten better in quality, so they jacked up the price of their monitors
