are there any signs your computer has been hacked & what can you do about it

earlier instagram gave me the message that it detected unusual activity and 'automation' coming from my computer and to recommend changing my password, to prevent my account being permanantly disabled.....i was befuddled as ive never seen a message like this before....i'm not techy....but i did go ahead and change my password on instagram......ive had no problem on other sites....i use a desktop windows computer.....i have malwarebytes premium on my computer.

what are the signs my pc has been hacked? and what can i do about it? i have no bank details on my computer only my precious media files - pictures + music files....would a hacker delete those?

i'm a bit worried can anyone help?
"Hacking" and "hacked" are very open ended terms that can mean all kinds of things related to a compromised system. But with social media accounts it is likely some of your personal info was leaked in a data breach and since most people use the same passwords for everything (even know they should know better) people who buy such data will look for any accounts associated with your email and try the same passwords to breach your accounts.

Changing your password and maybe checking your financials if you have a card attached to your account should be sufficient.

If you are worried about something on your system you can run a scan and also learn how to use commands like netstat to find out if something on your system is opening an internet connection that should not be.

If you have malware bytes go ahead and run a scan. That program will clean it good.
