how would i know if i had a virus on my computer deleting my media files, pictures and music

[c=005E2F]how would i know? would such a virus delete all my media files in one go, or one by one gradually over time?

i want reassurance really, the reason i ask there seems to be less media files on my computer than i thought, i thought i had more than what i see/ have....or pehaps i'm imagining it and there was always this amount of media files and nothing has been deleted.

either way can anyone help?[/c]

Most likely, nothing's been deleted. Viruses usually don't work that way. They'll usually slow down your computer, though.

The best thing to do, is to run some scans that look for and delete the viruses. There are some good free ones.

Download Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Copy and paste this into your browser: https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/free-virus-removal-tool

Good Luck

Don't forget to back up all your data on an external USB drive or USB keys. You can back up browser bookmarks and log-ins as well. Even clone your main HD.

What security do you have for your PC? It would soon let you know if you had any viruses and it would quickly deal with them.
