I just got an old desktop to use a nvidia gt GeForce 620 graphics card the card was £25 from Central exchange or Cex good deal also got a terabyte hard drive for desktop both are at last running the card was a pain to get working

it better than the onboard one which gave diagonal lines also the geforce is ok its nvidia and I've had no problems with it

I've found a good deal on a intel i5 processor along with a good deal on a intel Xeon I'm gonna see about getting a board for one or the other

xeon is more expensive, it's only good, if you use massive multicore programs

If you have a good GPU, I would take an i5 (the 4460 is good and cheap) or a good i3 (4150 is the best I think?)

I'll look for the i5 thanks and Im getting a gigabyte motherboard with HD graphics and I got a nvidia 620 being used as the graphics card invade the onboard one is a bit faulty with my operating system

HD Graphics is in the cpu. But with a graphic card you don't need any onboard graphics ^^ Just look for an H97-board, if you don't want to over clock (over clock is only with K CPUs).

that's the board I'm after does the processor you mentioned have a 1550 socket?

The 4460 is an 1150 Socket, i own it myself ;)

55 pounds? That's not enough, my one was 150 euro. you could look for used 2500k or similar, but 55 is not very much

I found a i5 for that much found another for 60 pounds on eBay with a guarantee of money back if not pleased with it
