I Am a Mac User

And I'm Using a Fossil of a Mac
I got this old Quicksilver G4 tower, built in 2001, last winter for free from a guy in (next city over) who no longer used it. His complaint with it was a noisy system fan...because the fan had physically broken. Like was in the process of splitting entirely in two. It was a total of seven screws - four to mount the fan, and three for the housing - plus a bit of cable splicing to replace, but now it has a working fan. Check the specs on this beast and be jealous:

I also scored some of the old ADC displays, notably the 20" and 23" models, for free, so I have the matching display/s too. It also means between this 23" display and one of my own, I can run Mac OS 9 in a dual-display configuration at 1920x1080 or higher on each display. There's no practical reason for me to do so, but I can. I have no idea what I'll do with this machine now; it's just too old for practical use. But it seems like a good place to write. And it will, surprisingly enough, run SW - this story was typed on the fossil. Maybe when it gets stupidly cold outside I'll play Myst III Exile on it.

shame about those specs
SW-User
@butterflymind1 Honestly, I'm surprised something this old still will internet. Plus I actually do have stuff made this decade with specs that are well within the range of "useful."
