The electronics would not degrade if kept in cool, dry conditions; but I am surprised the battery has lasted so long, even retaining some charge!
It is a credit to its manufacturing quality.
My first portable 'phone was a Nokia - I forget the model. Its battery eventually failed, after about ten years, but I could replace that. Sadly it then lasted only about two more years, cut short only because water from clothes drenched in heavy rain penetrated and destroyed it.
I had to replace my perfectly good previous one, a mere seven years old, only because the 3G services were ended. I wonder how long my present 'phone will last! I forget if I kept its purchase record along with those for most equipment purchases.
