Does Anyone Here Think They Need a Foldable Phone

I think it's kinda neat, but way over priced. I wish they'd go more modular and detached with phone components. like make one smallish block with a good sized battery and all the antennas that's the actual 'coms' portion, then a different part that connects via blutooth or some near field networking that would give you your display. possibly multiple displays so you flip one around and make the phone sized screen into a keyboard and use a tablet display to do work on. there was so much change an innovation going on with phone designs and layouts for 10 or so years and now it's all just stopped. ok. a big, clunky block of a screen. this is how you do phones now. thats your option.

@dirge but its not big and clunky.
Its actually thinnner and smaller than a lot of other phones on the market when folded up.
The screen, when folded out offers the option of multiple screens, qwerty keyboard on screen etc.
There is little about them that is "clunky".

@OogieBoogie i think that kinda depends on what you're comparing to what. a rectangular block with more surface are tha your hand is always going to be a bit clunky. physically.

@dirge if youre on the move....and tou use it as tou would a normal phone, i totally agree on that.
But then the oppsite side of that is- its a really nifty foldable, pocket sized tablet 🤗
In truth its mostly designed for a niche market: for those that require a tablet and a phone....but don't want to have to carry both everywhere.
Its for tech savvy people who use it for multitasking on the move.
I have a friend whos a teacher, and she finds it really convenient. She organises a lot of her work on it.
Me - id just have it coz its got a cool big screen for visuals and drawing 😏

@OogieBoogie yeah, I totally see a value in it and I'm kinda the right demographic to be targeted for it, I just wish they'd do things a big differently, somehow. I could show people pics I've captured from across the room. or conversely screw up and show them something that I didn't really intend to from as far or more.
I also really like the modularity idea when it comes to upgrades. I really couldn't find much of a use or need for a 8k display about the size of my palm/fingers, but I could see holding onto a 1080p tablet display that could connect to various phones for a long, long time.

@dirge the battery life has been made pretty good on some of these.
The biggest downfall still is the actual fold mechanism. Its the weak point.
That and the fact that they cant make them very moisture/waterproof yet.
