My mom used to have one of these rotary phones. It was mostly a gaudy conversation piece, but a functional one. There will never be a phone with a more satisfying hang up sound than this phone had. I was a loud ting sound that would reverberate through the the whole phone and whatever table it was sitting on. Wasn't very comfortable to hold for long conversations though.
