Phones been mental all night

So i get in from work; have a shower; get something to eat; then get my phone to update my online work diary.

I notice there's an update that needs uploading and since the last one I ignored seemed to cancel apps on my phone; thought I'd just let it download now then I could get on and finish my workday.

Buuut No ! !

I go and wash up and return (20 minutes later) to find this thing STILL downloading....馃
Can't break past the screen it's on; but notice all these soppy icons at the top of the screen 馃

Endless cr馃がp I've no interest in !....and STILL it continues !

I call an I:T pal to see if maybe it was malware.
Nope ! Just Vodafone selling my details to just about every cr馃がp company you can think of disabling certain features on my phone as it goes !

3 hours ! 3 hours it took to finish and as a result my screen brightness has to be manually increased any time i use the phone; volume has to be increased otherwise i don't hear the phone ringing;
It's lost one of my e-mail addresses so that has to be manually done any time i need to use it....'bobble is not a happy chap 馃が

Devices keep pissing me off. The hardware usually outlasts the software. I end up having to buy new devices just because the software stops working. For instance, SW no longer works on my smartphone, and I cannot update Chrome (the SW app says I need to). So I am stuck. I can only use SW on my desktop computer. Chrome seems to automatically update there, though. Yet my Windows is old and every attempt to update it has failed. I wonder how long before SW will stop working on my computer? It is old, too.

I miss the time when one could use a device until the hardware failed. Now, the software seems to drive the usefulness of a device. It is probably one big conspiracy to get people to buy new devices.

Yet when I do upgrade I usually like it. When I switched from an old CRT TV (that died) to a new HDTV, I was pleased at the resolution. When I was forced to get a new cable box, I was pleased with the increased access to streaming stuff. For example, now I mostly just watch YouTubes, rather than regular TV. When I get new cars, I like how the automation features keep getting better. I cannot wait until cars are all self-driving!

I just wish I could trade in my body for a new, young one. That is what is holding me back, now, LOL!
