Are you too dependent on your cellphone?

So I set an alarm on my phone last night to get up at 7:45am to go to the gym then work. I woke up and immediately grabbed my phone and it's completely dead. The dreaded black screen, and it had been on the charger all night.
I completely panicked because I don't have a watch or a clock in my house and I have a doctors appointment tomorrow with a new doctor and I don't even know her name. I have all my phone numbers and don't even have a single one memorized. I have my work schedule, work apps, calendar, etc etc. Not only all my entertainment like Netflix, Prime, Hulu, YouTube, TikTok, etc
it's scary how dependent on my phone I am!
I drove down to the Verizon store, fully expecting to pay my $250 deductible to get a new phone sent to me in several days and also having to buy a burner phone or whatever they are called to last me till new phone came in.
Thankfully they were able to fix it today. They just did a reset on my phone and everything came right back up. They asked me about what kind of charger I used and said that if I wasn't using the one that came with the phone , this situation happens sometimes.
So I had to buy a new charger for almost $100. I was pissed, but at least it was cheaper than using the insurance to get the phone replaced. So it could have been worse .

I have a mobile phone (as we call them here), but I hate the damn thing and use it as little as possible. Even the fact that I have to charge it every day annoys me, and it took me weeks to work out how to accept calls and send text messages from it: things that should be completely straightforward and intuitive. I'm pretty sure I'll never become one of those people you see everywhere you go whose eyeballs are constantly glued to their phones. I'd actually much rather not have one, but the choice not to have one has been taken away from us.

@PunkRockSuperStar you're smart! I depend on mine way too much. I use it as an alarm, to pay all my bills, contact friends, use social media, as a gps, notepad, and to google anything I need to know, play music, watch Netflix, etc, So many things!

@Mardrae That being the case, all I can say is you've adapted well. Certainly better than I have. Stop the world, I want to get off!

Do you still have a computer, or do you do everything on the phone?

@PunkRockSuperStar I do everything on my phone. I do have a nice computer, but it's too much trouble to use- getting online, sitting up in a chair, typing ( I have arthritis in my fingers), just too much. So much easier to grab my nice u shaped neck pillow, lay back in bed with my covers over me and my large cell phone to do everything.
