Car phones… bathroom phones. People thought it be crazy overkill to be that connected. And now we all have phones in the bathroom and carry our mini computers in our pocket. 😅

Well, not all of us! Some of us are more discerning.

Some of us even understand the use of the ON/OFF switch.

I do not have a "mini-computer", just a basic portable telephone on which speech telephony is the primary function. I wonder if that will catch on? Nor do I have it with me when in the toilet or shower; or in many other places and situations. (It is switched on now, but in another room.)

It's also illegal here to use a portable 'phone while driving.

One of my favourite cafes in my town looks out onto a busy street, pedestrian-only during the day so plenty of room for people to walk along the road. Watching them over a leisurely pot of tea, I've sometimes thought a good third of of the passers-by were either yacking into, or tapping on, their little talking-blocks as if vital and nothing else matters. I imagine most of the time, the apparent urgency is inversely proportional to the real importance.

Then work on the building opposite necessitated scaffolding on the pavement, ,and it was there for some two or three months. The poles were padded to avoid injury to anyone walking into them. I wondered when the inevitable would happen but I never saw it, so decided the 'phone-yackers/tappers must have short-range radar or sonar (like a bat's) on their instruments!
