Can I take my Laptop battery out...

I'm confused about the use of laptop batteries VS using a laptop with it plugged in. In the past I went through 2 batteries and couldn't recharge them. Should I only use the laptop battery when I'm away from home, or just use my laptop plugged in without the battery? (If that makes sense)

Personally I haven't really noticed any particular method working better than another. With modern lithium ion batteries it is not as big of a deal as older battery tech. And for me as long as I can keep getting replacement batteries online for my Thinkpads I am not too worried.
