Can I take my Laptop battery out...

I'm confused about the use of laptop batteries VS using a laptop with it plugged in. In the past I went through 2 batteries and couldn't recharge them. Should I only use the laptop battery when I'm away from home, or just use my laptop plugged in without the battery? (If that makes sense)

Your laptop must be pretty old if you can take the batteries out.

Batteries do tend to die with use. The average laptop battery will last ~2 years before it needs replacement.
