Do you think smartphones have become more popular than computers( laptops) when it comes to internet usage?

I still prefer a laptop.

There is of course the option of having both 'phone and a computer of some sort - be it desktop, lap-top or tablet - depending on the individual owner's intended purposes, and how physically easy or convenient he or she finds them for those purposes.

If you need a decently-sized screen for large web-sites, for watching videos, and for serious applications like spreadsheets, CAD and photo-editing, it's hard to see what use a "smart"-'phone would be. On the other hand the 'phone is portable, just about small enough to fit a cagoule pocket or a handbag, so useful if you really need use the Internet away from home in situations unsuited to a lap-top.

So perhaps we should not question supposed "popularity" (basically, mere fashion) based on sweeping assumptions and mere sales figures, but on genuine purpose and value for the individual user.

Be it a small, basic portable telephone, so-called "smart"-'phone or a desktop computer with large screen and proper keyboard; it is still only a tool selected like any workshop, garden or kitchen tool, for its ability and practicality in a given type of task.
