In general though the market is headed in the opposite direction. The other choice is to get a big "docking station" with 12 or 15 ports and USB 4 connectivity. Then you'll need still another device that's a USB optical drive.
From the manufacturer's perspective, it's tough, because some people only want USB-C; some want USB-A and C, some want HDMI (micro or full sized), some want displayport or DVI, some want ethernet, etc etc.

@ElwoodBlues that's interesting. It looks like the first ones are rolling out, but most types are pre-order only at this point and it's quite expensive.
