Wifi Calling Question

I live where there is only a weak intermittent cell phone signal. My wifi is good so I can use wifi calling. Problem is that the cell phone drops the wifi calls after about a minute or sometimes a few seconds. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a solution?

I may have to add a land line for when I am at home. That sucks because I spent a lot of money on this ridiculous phone.

We have the same problem here. We would have to bring the line in from almost a mile away to get connected to a landline.
We have to jump into a vehicle and go up a mile on our driveway to make calls.
Thank goodness we can receive messages or gmails.

Go somewhere with good wifi and see if you still have issues

If so, take your phone to your provider to be configured and troubleshot

If not, may have bad wifi or bad Internet that you're using at home.

Need stable connection for voice

@th3r0n You are absolutely right and they should replace it with something that works. But they won't. They claim it's the 5g isn't right but that's bs because it should work on 4g. I eas very clear about my situation before they pushed this on me. I am done with Verizon. I was hoping someone else knew of a fix. I have a couple good ideas now that I can try. Thanks to you all.

@Riverman2 it's not impossible to be the 5G

You can go into settings, usually internet or network or carrier etc, mobile data, and connection type set LTE

After you do that, it's not using 5G anymore and if it still having issues they're full of crap then you can tell them

@th3r0n Thanks. I will check that out.🙂
Make sure you have updated your phones software as a first step

Also power cycling the router would be useful. Make sure to leave it off for at least a minute.

Stay close to the router

@eMortal I have tried. It doesn't matter.

@Riverman2 if the internet is more than 25mbps then I would say your network card/ship inside the cellphone get hot way too fast when on a wifi voice call, causing it to stop the transmission momentarily until it cools down. Borrow someone else’s phone and try again.

@eMortal. That's possible. Thank you.

Oh, it's a Verizon Motorola 5g. Don't get one.

You need to check the specifics of your phone, and check with your cell provider. Sometime they disable this feature.

I live in a poor coverage area, and I am on 100% wifi calling. I have an iPhone and a mac, so when I'm working, I make/take calls directly from my computer.

Does the connection loss only occur when you are doing a wifi phone call? Or is it a general problem?
Riverman2 · 56-60, M
@helenS The phone works great when I am where there is a signal.
