What would prompt a dolphin, or a sea turtle, to save someone?馃惉 Do you think they have a sense of morality?

We know they (dolphins) are capable of abstract thought, and logic, but that means they are aware of the danger in helping another creature and leaving themselves exposed. Why would they care?

It's not the same as my dog protecting me, we have a relationship.

The dolphin would gain no benefit from saving a person, a creature that doesn't even belong in their element... Maybe they take pity on us thinking we are stupid?馃き

As air breathing creatures of the sea, they're fully cognizant of the distress a creature can feel while drowning, and don't wish that distress on anyone.
@VeronicaPrincess Good point.
