Not only does BooBoo, one of my male parakeets, say “Thank You” but if someone hands something to another person and they don’t say “Thank You” he will remind them by saying it himself. He’s done it twice now.

@SW-User He doesn’t miss much. The other day I came home and walked past his cage and he says “Have a nice day”...so I say “You have a nice day too.” And he thanked me. He must have picked that up off on TV.
@cherokeepatti He is smart! I had a cockatiel who could tell time because he knew when the "Cubs" were on TV, and if you didn't have it on, he yelled until you did put it on. Then he would settle on the perch and say, "Har-ry...Har-ry..." (the announcer).
@MaryJanine Cockatiels are good talkers too. BooBoo likes to listen to Dr. Phil talk. The other day I had the TV on, Dr. Phil was on but the volume was turned down real low because I had been talking on the phone. BooBoo saw Dr. Phil’s face and said “I can’t change you.”...something that got said on a previous show.
@cherokeepatti Every cockatiel I ever had had his own phrase or words he would pick up and repeat. People say, "Oh, they don't know what they are saying - " Oh, yes, they DO. I beg to DIFFER. Why else do they react to something on TV or hears repeated in the house?
