Can someone answer this question? The lack of logic has been bugging me today.

Regarding the environment, all of nature, and global warming, why haven't ANY of the politicians screaming about it funded an enormous initiative to plant more trees?

Why do they tell us it is an existential problem, and then hop on their private jets to fly to the next political rally?

Do they think we don't notice any of that?

Hey!!!! Maybe WE should start our own plant a tree movement!!! If they won't do it, maybe we should!!!!

If a politician convinces enough people that there's a problem, that equals political power for the politician in the form of votes and cash. The greater the problem, the greater the power. If that politician then fixes the problem, they lose that power. Career politicians aren't willing to give up that power.

Lots of people do notice. But most don't because of short memories mixed with emotional arguments and moralizing. The politicians know that enough people will let them get away with it, especially if they have media on their side to help shift the narrative and attention.

@Sicarium Your perfect view of the matter was echoed earlier today on another of my posts by a man who used a fascinating Hawaiian slant on the matter.

I know what you mean about emotional arguments. I was just called stupid, foolish, deranged, drunk, and so on, on a Greenland post.
