Dog owners, what should I know before getting a puppy?

Adding a dog to my home has been on my mind for the past year or so. Wondering if there's any advice I should know beforehand. 🤔

Edit: I should also mention my partner and I likely won't have kids so a dog would be my child with fur. 😅

Get one soon. Spring is the best time to get one because potty training in the winter can be a bitch.

Other than that be patient and calm but don't be a push over and spoil the dog either. You aren't doing the animal any favors coddling it all the time. You end up with a rambunctious dog who is always stresses out and often getting themselves into messes. Dogs without guidance end up a ball of nerves.
