@BlueMetalChick They did not want cute cuddly companions. They wanted canines to alert them to potential danger in the night. It was a beneficial union for both species. They weren’t domesticed to be food.

@Imsleepy Thank you. Apparently Puffieke doesn't understand that; she thinks they were bred to be adorable pets. In certain areas of the world they were domesticated as a food source but that's a pretty small minority. Dogs were primarily intended to be working animals.

I didn't say a food source was the primary goal. I say being a pet and companion was not the primary goal.

The point I'm trying to make is that because dogs were bred to be working animals, keeping them as pets and not giving them the experience of doing the tasks they were intended to do usually is what results in them acting so retarded.
