@TheSeptikSkeptik I have seen them wipe out large area's of beautiful short needle pine ,and Australian pines ,the Pinus ponderosa
When so many have been over cut for building materials ,its really devastating
to see the timber land that is left and protected
Wiped out by wildfires and bugs

@rckt148 I had read that they are really bad around trees that have been damaged or have somehow lost their internal pressure. Yeah, I remember California was having some real problems with landslides due to deforestation a while back.

@TheSeptikSkeptik noting can make you more sick then a mountain side looking like it has a bad hair cut from clear cutting ,,and then those little jokers move in and wipe out the trees that are left ,,
I have been lucky enough to know what they are ,,I noticed the trees turning brown ,,and I was able to cut enough trees and burn them (with the eggs )
and stop them from doing any more damage ,,but I was blessed to see a video on them ,and I recognized what they were ,,,
Locust is another insect you have never feared the end of days until you see a highway slick as glass with them ,(the road shinny with crushed ones )and the noise they make sounding like sirens off in the distance ,and everywhere you look ,,there they are like a plague out of the Bible ,,,I seen that once too ,it was very freaky
