What do you think the best thing to do with the cat?

One of my friends has a cat that is around 14 years old. She wants to get rid of it because it uses one room in her house and she doesn't want it anymore. It violently attacked her one day and thats why she keeps in in a room. Its what the cat is use to since its been that way for years. The room has windows and things to climb on. I am looking for rescues to give the cat to. But I just wonder if you think this is the best thing for the cat. Considering the age of the cat. I just think that maybe it could be too traumatic for the cat since thats all she is use to. I don't believe that the cat has bad behavior that can just be corrected but I think that it does have some other mental problem. It is almost feral acting. One time it got outside and circled the house for hours just screaming and growling at everyone and every thing.

I just don't know if its better to allow it to live the rest of its live in what it knows or give it away to a rescue. I know that the cat will be really stressed out from being in a new environment.

I have mixed emotions.

I would hate to have to give it away and it is miserable. I definitely wont adjust easy maybe not at all.
Grrrrrr......

How can people adopt an animal and later on ( when the animal is old ) decide they don´t want them anymore.

That makes my blood boil !!!

Of course, the cat reacts that way having been confined to just one room. The cat will need a new loving family that understand what she went thru and help her adjust to her new surroundings patiently.

@Underconstruction yeah ne me too but its not like that. The cat wasnt always in a room its been put in a room since it attacked my friend. Jumped on her head and she had to hide in the bathroom and the cat was growling outside the bathroom. Even though she wasn't even bothering the cat. It has a lot more space than it would be in a shelter. So my concern was that it would be even more traumatic to the cat being given to a rescue.

I do too feel bad for the cat that its in a room but it gets fed and waterd. Has windows and things to climb on.

I only wish I could take it myself. But I cant since I have a cat and dogs.

Not only that the cat would be hard to rehome or even foster since it cat be around any other pets or kids and is also old.

I'm just trying to think of whats better for the cat.

I have contacted a rescue that does foster care.

I just only wish she tried rehoming the cat earlier.

@Underconstruction my cat is nearly 17 and has some health problems in her senior years, but she has been my one friend and confidante all these years. I have raised her from a kitten, and can't imagine life without her. She is comfortable, for the most part. All I want is for her to live out her remaining years in peace and comfort

@SomeAreBoojums i also couldn't ever imagine rehoming my pets. I never had to and my pets always live out their entire lives with me.

I even kept a dog for 17 or 18 years that peed on everything.

I never once thought to give him away.

I also never had any pets with severe aggression problems.

I don't know how old cats react to a new place especially one with tons of issues.

I also wouldn't want her to be going from home to home either.

I'm only asking for advice. On whats best for the cat at this point.

She is highly un adoptable.

Old, agressive, no other pets or kids. And is also black and black cats are even less likely to be adopted.

I wish I was able to take her myself.
That cat is not adoptable and would never adjust to another home. The cat is old and will not live much longer. If at all possible I would suggest to keep the cat where it knows its surrenderings.

@GoldButterfly hey thanks for not being a huge booty hole.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. The living is not what I would choose for any of my pets. But at this point this maybe whats best for it. I cant imagine anyone even adopting it or fostering it. It would be rare to find someone who has no kids other pets. No friends. Has tons of time and patience. For a gremlin cat.

It has everything it needs in the room.

I do wish I could take it myself though.

I tried to contact people explaing exactly what the cat needs maybe a miracle will happen and someone will take it.
@Iamnotacat I have tried to adopt cats like that. They never adjusted. If the cat is not being beaten then that room with food and water is the best place. It should be petted often if possible.
Iamnotacat · 26-30, F
I assume she gets petted. I hope so. I've been in the room before and it has what it needs. Bed and ect.

Maybe eventually I'll be able to take it. I have the patients just not the space.

I know its not being abused but I get stressed out thinking about the cat sometimes.

I mean, it already sounds pretty miserable, so what is the worst that can happen. It gets into a rescue and may have a chance at a home where maybe it can get on some meds and actually be a happy cat
Goralski · 51-55, M
The only one with mental issues is d cats owner you can't keep an animal isolated in an room
Goralski · 51-55, M
@Iamnotacat gee I wonder why it attacks people
Iamnotacat · 26-30, F
Lol. I guess you still didnt read. It use to have free roam of the place UNTILL it attacked people.
