So the countdown begins.

Seven days till I pick up Smudge's kitten from the shelter. It'll be as young as I can get, as to bring out some maternal instinct.
It's kind of a gamble. I hope they'll become fast friends and playmates; I can't bear Smudges crying and howling since her friend was taken from her. I can't be her cat friend. Oh well. Here goes.

What was her friend? Not a cat, or you'd have said. Rat? Hamster?

@Serenitree Her little mate was another cat. Kitten that grew up to be a big cat, they'd chase each other around the flat and snuggle together when tired.

@Cavedweller Oh, that's great. She has had experience with a kitten in the past. She won't feel threatened. She might, very briefly feel put upon,,but she'll get over that in a mighty quick minute.

@Serenitree I reckon she won't be talking to me for a while.

@Cavedweller Until she sees a kitten in your lap....then she'll have lots to say. But I don't think it will last more than a day. She will feel compelled to groom the baby. It's what they do.
