When they are suffering. 😢

@littlepinklotus That's a good starting point, but I had a cat who appeared to be suffering badly, so took him to have him euthanized. My vet said, leave him with me for a couple of days, I'll see if I can stabilize him and fix the problem. I trusted her. She discovered he was a diabetic. He lived 12 more happy healthy years. He died, at 17, of old age.

Oh, and in case you think it's a money grab....she charged me nothing for the days he was in for testing and treatment. All I had to pay for was his insulin, and I got that from a regular pharmacy, not from her.

@Serenitree I should of elaborated I guess. Silly me. I completely understand. I would never put a pet down unless there was nothing else humanely possible that could be done for them. I'm glad your cat lived a happy life.

@littlepinklotus Me too! And I was quite sure you would investigate further if you thought your pet needed euthanasia, but it never would have occurred to me. If I hadn't had that beautiful person who cared more for the animal, than the money, to tell me he could live and be well, I'd have had him put down and thought I was doing the right thing.
