Yes---own the cat instead of letting it own you. Put the food YOU want the cat to eat in the cat dish and leave it there. At some point the cat will eat it--and from then on it will. Right now it knows it can control what you feed it---because you give in and do it.

@anythingoes477 You are probably right. The Blue Buffalo has been sitting in his dish for almost a month now, and I feel like he will starve if I don't feed him.

@4meAndyou If you had oatmeal or spinach in front of you but knew if you held out your mom would give you a candy bar instead if you just meowed loud enough---you'd do it---right? Treats are called treats because they taste good------but usually they have very little in nutritional value--compared to a quality food. You're not helping your cat by giving in. You're hurting it's health.
