I'm at crisis point.

My wee cat is scratching the hell out of my brand new couch despite the new scratch post I got for her. Anything I could maybe rub on the post to make it more appealing or something slightly nasty to apply to the couch to deter her?

Cats don't like the smell of orange oil, you might spray it but not directly on the sofa, like on paper towels or fabric wads where the cat scratches.

@cherokeepatti I'll try that. Thanks, Patti. 😊

@Cavedweller You can find organic orange oil at some of the larger health food stores...Albertson's used to sell it too. I have diluted it and sprayed it (after cleaning) on patio doors, around the patio and my front door due to cats spraying daily...they'd leave it alone for 2 full weeks and then I'd have to redo it.

Pain in the arse, right? Thankfully my cat is obsessed with her litter tray and won't pee or poo anywhere else. She's kind of an OCD type. Are your cats male or female?

@Cavedweller Last cat I had was a female, haven't had one for 15 years since she died. My cat was the same way, she wouldn't pee outside even if she was out there an hour, she'd run inside and head straight for the litter box. The cats that sprayed the patio and front door were neighbor's cats.
