@beermeplease German shepherds were our family breed as well. My grandparents had a Saint Bernard when I was a kid in the 70's, but it went mean one day and had to be put down, a lab screen didn't find anything. Looking back I think it was the only dog they had that was caged and it snapped seeing the other dogs running around, it was a small cage too for a large dog.

@NativePortlander1970 i wish i could get a small dog. but being a renter it's tough because if i have to move out lots of places won't accept them...it's a bit easier owning a cat. i could get a dog where i currently live but if i have to move it would be tough finding a new place...such a shame since i have a big yard

@exexec When I waited for the school bus, there was an older Beagle that crossed the very busy street every morning. Should would stand a watch, and when all clear scuttle across. Amazing!
