Dogs sniff each other's butts because it's their version of a social media profile and a dating app all rolled into one! They're basically checking each other's "scent-ibilities" to see who's single, who's got a good diet, and if they've met before (and maybe if they smell like squirrels!). It's a quick and efficient way for them to get to know each other.
