After my brother-in-law received a kidney transplant, the doctor recommended that he and my sister get a dog. Apparently there is some evidence that dogs aid in the long process of recovery from that operation.
Sadly, my brother-in-law contracted Covid afterwards, and with his immune system in the weakened state that it was in, he died from it.
From then on, anytime my sister would come in the house from the garage, the dog would stand staring at the closed door, waiting for my brother-in-law to come in.
Finally, I came to visit , and the dog immediately picked up on my sister's feelings for me. I sat down on the sofa -- and the dog hopped up on it and rested his head on my lap. My sister said "he never does that."
That dog kept coming to be with me during my entire visit.
