Please read and give advice

My dog started sneezing months ago. She developed a bump on her nose. So I took her to the vet. She was put on antibiotics and a steroid. Did better but once treatment stopped back to sneezing. Bump never went away. So vet recommended Benadryl. I scheduled a ct scan. Technician called out on day of and had to cancel it. Vet took a sample of fluid from her nose and sent it to a pathologist who hadn’t released full results yet but it is infectious. Still waiting. Bacteria has to be grown in a lab. Been waiting over two weeks for full results been constantly calling. My dog is on antibiotics. She doesn’t act sick. She’s happy, occasionally sneezes now and still a bump. Hasn’t gotten bigger. Vet refused biopsy, said it would be very painful and the chance of cancer are minimal. Should I go elsewhere? I can’t get advice from anyone I feel very alone and I don’t want to put her through pain but equally I don’t want her to get cancer or if I have any chance to stop it. She’s only 7.vet offered a cat scan but no biopsy

Edit:she’s not a bad vet.i believe she cares. So please don’t assume
Tough situation. Did you end up getting the ct scan? I’d wait for full test results but if you’re still not feeling confident with your vet’s diagnosis, seek a second opinion. Think it’s important for you to feel that you’re doing everything possible.

@OlderSometimesWiser she won’t do the scan until the results come back but it’s still not a biopsy so I don’t see the point in it. But she is adamant that a biopsy is a horrible thing to do to her with where it’s located and I wanted to find somewhere that can do a rhinoscopy but I hate to put her through pain

Has the vet at least given you a “what it might be…” Hopefully it’s nothing serious, our dogs get things growing under their skin too, nothing has been life threatening.

You said she was sneezing a lot, has she looked up her nose to see if something got lodged up her nose? I twig that had broken off but left a small piece in her nose and is now infected? Just a thought…

@Jeephikelove yes she has and even stuck a q tip in and said no blood. She sees no sign of cancer at all but it’s not a definitive answer and I find that hard. She thinks it’s the result of an infection and a cyst

@Morrowind dogs do get a lot of cysts. I bet it’s not cancer, 1 of our dogs had cancer and the vet was all too happy to take $5000 for surgery to remove the tumour only to actually make it worse and our Molson was gone 6 months later. Hugs you’re a good dog dad.

@Jeephikelove Ty I hope it’s not. I’ve had two dogs with cancer so my first thought is always that. My plan is to wait for the results and if they have no new answer for me I will ask for a referral to someone who can do a rhinoscopy and see what she thinks. I wonder if it’s less bad if you have the tools to do that versus just going in for surgery to remove tissue idk

Ive had good vets and bad vets. I don't know anything about this specific issue, but you can always try another opinion if you arent happy with this one.
