Toatally a harvest coming

My parents' farm’s first time growing oats since a lost harvest fifty years ago (I am told).

Fortunately this year we have Flash to supervise (and definitely not eat) the crop.

good luck! 👍

I saw a lot of fields growing canola last year when I was visiting the UK, is that becoming more popular with farmers there too?
Persephonee · 22-25, F
@DealingWithTrouble it has been I think all my life (though we call it rapeseed). Indeed Flash is also a fan (in a previous year) :

ArishMell · 70-79, M
@DealingWithTrouble Isn't Canola a particular strain of Rape?
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@ArishMell CANOLA is 'Rape' Simply derived from CANada and Oil Low Acid

Canadian Marketing because Rape as a descriptive not very well received. This branding has taken over the Rape name worldwide.
I’m glad to know the price of oats is up to thanks to all the oat milk products people want now

@SatyrService It's both mad and nice at the same time!
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
Did you get Flash's permission to take a pic of him naked?
Persephonee · 22-25, F
@SinlessOnslaught he shamelessly poses anyway so I think we're safe from a lawsuit. Anyway I'm sure I can afford the official compensation rate (half a sausage)
Northerner · 70-79, M
It looks a healthy crop. We have lots of oats grown around us here
EnglishLitLover · 56-60, M
that field could be fun filled when it grows a bit xx
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
Flash will take charge of things!!

Persephonee · 22-25, F
@TheRascallyOne I'll pass that on!! xx
Mudkip · 31-35, M
It looks so peaceful
InstructHer · 56-60, M
I love oats.
InstructHer · 56-60, M
@InstructHer I make my own granola!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Are you finding it difficult to plan what to grow ?
I wondered if odd weather and supply issues affects the price for whatever you decide to try and grow
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Oats are a good crop to have in the rotation and given favourable rain and temperatures can be a great cash crop.
Outdoorfreedom · 56-60, M
Looks like a good crop. We did very little oats on our farm a long time ago.
TexChik · F
How many acres?
Persephonee · 22-25, F
@TexChik It's actually a fairly small field (~1.5acres) surrounded by houses, right behind the farmhouse. Once upon a time this was the edge of the town but now it's just the house, a long barn and yard, and that field (the rest of the farm starts about 1/3 of a mile away these days)
