I've had no experience with cats myself, but I understand they can be quite affectionate and attentive, but only up to a point. Maisy, my little Scottie, jumps all over me, has to share what I'm eating, and understands every word I say. She was given to me two years ago by my sister (a cat owner) because she was unwanted.
I'm doomed!

Nothing wrong with cats but I love dogs. I rescue senior dogs that have been dumped when they get medically expensive or just abandoned. I only get them for a year or two because they are near the end of their life but I get to spoil the hell out of them.
I’ve had ten or twelve of them in the last ten years.
