Have You Ever Used A Dog Whistle To Stop A Dog From Barking?

Do you think it would work if I used one for the neighbor’s yap dogs? They like to bark anytime they are outside and it is disturbing the peace. Sometimes the owner will put them outside at night for an hour or so too.

Report them to the animal authorities ie your local Humand Society. Write a complaint each time. Date. Time. Length of barking. Have you mentioned this disturbance to your neighbors with the dogs? That isvthe first logical step. Then proceed with complaints. They will be visited. Warned. Fined. Then more.

Barking dogs are so annoying, mine was fine until one of my neighbours got a barking dog so mine always joined in. I used to bring him in.
I don't think there is much to stop a barking dog, any noise will probably add to the barking match 🙁 have a word if safe to do so.

Yes. It helps temporarily. However, small yappy dogs, like the two that I once owned, can only be stopped with barker breaker shock collars. If the owner had a jot of good sense, he or she would buy the collars, and after less than a month the dog knows not to bark all the time. Then the collars can be removed permanently.

@4meAndyou they are all small yappers. The man is dense enough to encourage them to bark by telling them there is a squirrel and they start up.

@cherokeepatti There is no help for it, then. You can try throwing a small sealed can at them filled with marbles or BB's, to startle them into stopping, but that is best only done with your own dogs. You don't want to go to jail over it. The only OTHER thing you can do is to keep calling in a noise nuisance complaint. Maybe if the a hole receives a fine he will think about things differently.

@TexChik that’s also on my list. If they want to have them in the back yard most of the day in the spring and summer I can ping some lentils or beans to the fence and let them bark non-stop till they bring them inside.

Water pistol worked with our little yapper, only sprayed him a couple of times then just threatened him with it
