Can different breeds of dogs be attracted to each other?

SW-User
Our family dog gets shagged by everything and anything lately.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
Definitely, that’s how you get different breeds of dogs. All breeds of domesticated dogs are the same species and can therefore mate with each other.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@WendyLopez43 I didn’t know golden retrievers came in brown or black? But yeah, I don’t see why not.
WendyLopez43 · 26-30, F
@Theyitis I meant Labrador retriever
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@WendyLopez43 Haha, oh! Yeah, for sure. In theory any two breeds of dogs can mate. A bulldog and a chihuahua, a poodle and a Dalmatian.

I don't think dogs know of the breeds we use to identify them.

They just see another Dog.
Iamrose · 22-25, F
They do i noticed at the park

In my experience, dogs don't "become attracted" to each other, not the way humans do. They just get horny. And a horny dog will happily hump anything that he can.

@5kylar I believe dogs do get attracted to other dogs
5kylar · 31-35, F
@Mona86 Then I guess my dogs are just commitment phobes 😂😜
Mona86 · C
Yes they are lol 😂 @5kylar
Mona86 · C
Obviously yes

What about the labradoodle ( labrador/poodle cross) or the cockerpoo (cocker spaniel/poodle cross)...
It's all a matter of scent with dogs.
WendyLopez43 · 26-30, F
@TheSentinel so if they like the scent, it's attraction?
@WendyLopez43 It isn't even a matter of if they like the scent. Once a male catches the scent of a female in heat, nature just kind of takes over.

You mean to say crave for each other?
WendyLopez43 · 26-30, F
@SW-User yes
...on which planet did you originate? lol
WendyLopez43 · 26-30, F
@WendyLopez43 Ah. Well, then ok.
@WendyLopez43 Seriously, the answerer saying that they are ALL the same species (Canis familiaris), they can ALL interbreed.

That's how you get

• purebreds, or dogs which are an instance of a well-defined "breed" (I think this would technically be referred to as a "variation" of the species...);

• "mutts" (mixtures which are random, unnamed, not retained);

• new combo dogs, like all the -doodles, which are admixtures of <some breed> with poodles;

• new breeds (Airedale terriers are a combination of otterhound and some others).

That's my serious & helpful answer.
