Up at 4am because of dog.

She's old and I'm starting to question if shes all there mentally. She broke through the pet gate and into the bedroom around 3:45, been a long time since she's done that. She doesn't see very well so I jumped up and grabbed her before she could knock anything over. Outside for a walk, then back in, belly rub and benedryl. Take a drink of water, walk around the kitchen, lay down, jump up, more water and another circle around the kitchen. Repeat.
It's almost 5, she's settled down but not back asleep yet. I want to go back to bed but don't want to have to get up and start all over with her.

That is sad, she may be in some pain. Maybe a vet can help more.

There are all kinds of things it could be. Get her checked by the vet. It could be an ear infection or any kind of thing. I hope she gets well very soon.

Its good that you consider her a member of the family as you obviously do. I hope it all works out with her.. Whatever it is, she is not alone in it and that means so much to a dog.😷

How old is she? What breed?

My daughter found her on Craigslist when she was a puppy, then found another dog so I got stuck with this one.

@robb65 That's quite a good age. Dogs can get a form of dementia, like humans can 😢

@Fluffybull I think for some reason she wanted me up and in here with her. Eventually I made it back to bed and she was quiet until I got back up around 8am. She acts up sorta like this first thing in the mornings and then settles back down when I head out to work. It's just been a while since she did it in the middle of the night. I'm wondering if maybe her sense of time has gotten a bit off as well. I know she can still see movement but not sure she can see much other than that.

what a shame perhaps either you keep an eye on her or pehaps to take her to the vet for a check up [robb65]

Poor thing.

It sounds like she is feeling badly. Dogs cannot speak to us and they don't know what to say when they are feeling bad.
Something is wrong with her but it doesn't sound mental.
