Welp, found a lost dog

I just wanted to get high and watch a movie tonight, but when I took my dog out for her midnight bathroom break, this guy showed up.

I thought I'd let them run around for a while thinking his owner was around the corner or something, but after a while nobody showed up. He didn't have a name tag so there was no one I could call. I tried listening to see if anyone was calling, and then I tried letting him loose to see if he'd walk back home, but no luck there. I also tried doing a lap around the apartment complex with him, but got no results there either.

By this point it was a quarter past 1 in the morning and I didn't have much hope of reuniting him with his owner(s), so now he's home with me. Even fed him and gave him water.

Young, sweet, energetic, loves back scratches and licking my face. He's clearly a well-loved dog. The downside is that he hasn't been neutered so I've been having to play cockblocker all night. It's really fcking annoying trying to settle down two energetic dogs when it's 2 in the morning and you're tired from work. Luckily, I spoil my dog so much that I have enough treats and toys to keep the both of them occupied. It's really helped a lot. They're starting to get along quite well.

As much as I'd love to keep him, I'm pretty sure there's someone out there looking for him. Tomorrow morning I'm going to start making some phone calls and digging around online to see if I can send this big ole pupper home. It's a shame because I already love him and he seems to be really happy here. We'll see how things go. I'm just hoping we can all sleep in peace tonight. They're both still kinda hyper.

Anybody else been in this situation? Can someone point me in the right direction here?

Take him to the vet to see if he’s microchipped!

@Zeuro That's definitely a top priority. But given that he's unneutered and has no name tag, I'm not sure he has the kind of owner that would also chip their dog. It seems like a long shot

@TinyViolins it’s worth a shot, I mean depending on how old he is they could just not have neutered him yet but already have his chip
