i'm so sorry, I know how that feels, its horrible. i will not be one of those who will tell you to not be sad, I say "be sad" , its the right time for sadness. sadness in this case means that someone was precious to you, its a beautiful, sacred sadness and it deserves to be felt. whenever i feel sad about my dog I feel like this sadness is my shrine to her and i go sit there sometimes.
