I'm looking for a big breed dog with a long lifespan. [I Dogs]

For service dog work. I currently have a swiss mtn mix he's amazing. But starting to think about what I'll do when he retires in the future. Any ideas?

I think Rotts are over looked too often for this type of stuff.
If you look at their breeding they aren't like a pit bull, like they always seem to get viewed as.
Loyal.Smart. Great with kids and are very family oriented. Tough and protective.
One down side is they tend to over heat easy.
They tend to get about 100 lbs and are lean.
You can get about 11 years out of one before they start to break down.

@Rosiechick13 Oh, I didn't mean to come off like I dislike Pits.
I think as far as what you mentioned you were looking for a pit is too short. LOL

@Dainbramadge they are although I had one that was massive

@Rosiechick13 The father to my Rott was the biggest dog I have ever seen.
My mom always had St. Bernard's and this Rott was bigger than any of them.
They had a normal height fence only it was solid wood. I could see that dogs head over the top of that fence. LOL
His head looked to be the size of my torso. HA ha ha ha!!!!!! Like a damn horse.

Have you considered a Belgian Malinois?

@Rosiechick13 @Rosiechick13 I understand that they are being used as service dogs.

@novaguy2u Some yes but very high wash rate

@novaguy2u had one that was a former military dog, by far the smartest dog I've ever had

aside from a few of the terrier breeds, there aren't many big dogs with a long lifespan
