Heart broken [I Own a Dog]

I think my furbaby who is 16 is dying as she is not eating and is not active. She is drinking a lot but that is normal with her. My dog is everything to me and some people don't understand.

Take her to the vet to be examined and see what he says. You don't have to have her put down but if she is in pain it would be the kind thing to do as you wouldn't want her to suffer. Othewise if she is just winding down to old age, keep her comfortable and offer her food in case she wants some. She has spent her whole life with you and upsetting though it may be just continue to love her until the time comes for her to sleep peacefully. xx
I get ya.... sadly our pets can never outlive us. I've lost so many dogs since childhood...it hurts! I miss them to this day...and I hope I'll get to meet them again in heaven.

Hugggsss! 🌸😔🤗

@Vivaci I believe we will meet them in heaven but doesn't make it any easier.
@Meelliissaa No, it doesn't...🥺

They're irreplaceable. Tight hugs!

So sorry, the pain is just so incredible. My heart goes out to you.
I lost mine when she was that age she just laid around didn't want to eat either panted alot I set her water close to her and went to bed and that was the last time. I really loved that dog. So I understand the pain you are having, be there for her until it's her time to go. I'm sorry
I get it. 16 is a great run. I'm sure shes happy.

Have you had her kidneys tested?

@Callmewhatyouwill I am scared to take her to the vets in case they insist on putting her to sleep.
@Meelliissaa I've been in this situation many times. I won't tell you what to do, just my process when I have to make that decision.

I watch for quality of life decline. Your dog will tell you when it's time. Useually.

Last year had 3 pets pass. 2 dogs and a cat. This is the checklist I go by in my head.

Are they eating and drinking enough?
Have they lost control of going to the bathroom?
Quality of life, are they in pain, or miserable?

If all 3 are a yes I can't hesitate. If not I'll get them checked out and see if it's something treatable. If not, I do what I can to make them as comfortable as possible.
and you just give her love love love, untill she needs it no more.

I feel ya hun. our furpals are better than us

I was starting to think that furbaby is an actual creature until I read “dog”
I'm sorry.😢 Losing a pet is a very lonely experience.
