Today's distress

My eldest cat is undergoing surgery for an intestinal growth right now. That involves surgically removing the affected section of the intestine and then rejoining the remaining parts. The goal is to remove the growth, but if it is cancerous, it may have already spread, and future treatments like chemotherapy or radiation may be recommended for management, although the long-term outlook can be limited then. They were going to call me admist the operation 😢 How is it possible that the difference between detress and distress is only one letter?

How is your cat doing?

Good news, I hope?

@Thinkerbell I got her home today. The vet couldn't make her to eat. The next 24 hours will be curcial. She needs to eat. Even at home she's very restless. Trauma and pain, I guess. The vet have me pain killers to give her. Only I worry now that she won't eat. That would make her recovery not possible. If she does, there's another week of being critical and another six weeks of diarrhea. I try to stay strong for her but it's not a great time for me. I'll be listening to some more classical music. Watch out for those!

I hope she feels better soon and starts eating. 🙏

@Thinkerbell She has just eaten three small bits of chicken from my vol-au-vent dinner. Perhaps she's just frightened that eating will hurt her tummy

@val70 She's a clever cat but difficult... just like her owner

@val70

I'm happy that she started eating.
